Purpose

The purpose of this program is for students to learn basic vocabulary and fundamental grammar to develop language skills to begin speaking in Spanish.

Approaches

The program is designed with a communicative approach, which means that it focuses on teaching the student practical communicative skills needed to interact in everyday situations in Spanish. Authentic and contextualized materials are used to develop oral and written comprehension skills.

Entrance Profile

The purpose of this program is for students to learn basic vocabulary, and fundamental grammar, and develop language skills to begin speaking in Spanish. By the end of the course, students will be able to introduce themselves and others, spell in Spanish, talk about time, weather, and family, describe people and objects, and ask for directions, among other topics.
